The awesome power of Bach Flower remedies

Before I had my very first Kinesiology treatment, I had no idea what Bach Flowers were. I have memories of the little yellow bottles of Rescue Remedy, buried at the bottom of my mum’s handbag, but I had no idea of the incredible properties these remarkable remedies had.

Bach Flowers play a powerful role in Systematic Kinesiology treatments. In Kinesiology we work on your emotional wellbeing, as well as your physical health, as we recognise that physical symptoms often stem from emotional stress and trauma.

Bach Flowers work on a subtle, energetic level to facilitate emotional healing, yet many of us have no idea how they work. So, read on to understand what Bach Flowers are, where they came from and how they work.

What are Bach Flower remedies?

Bach Flowers were created by a physician named Edward Bach in the 1920’s. Bach qualified as a doctor in 1912 yet, as time wore on, his interest in homeopathic medicine and the ‘whole person’ holistic approach was growing day by day. His work naturally led him to nature and the power of plants, as remedies to heal his patients.

The bounty of nature has been used since the dawn of time to support the health and wellbeing of the human race. Herbs, spices, adaptogens and plants have been used in healing practices for literally thousands of years, in ancient China with their Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Indian with Ayurvedic medicine, and not to mention in ancient Egypt and Africa.

We have always used nature to support the health of our physical bodies, yet Bach understood that plants and flowers also played a key role in their ability to heal us on an emotional level. This is something Bach explored over his years of study.

The Bach Centre remember that over years of trial and error, which involved preparing and testing thousands of plants, he found one by one the remedies he wanted.

Each was aimed at a particular mental state or emotion. He found that when he treated the personalities and feelings of his patients their unhappiness and physical distress would be alleviated naturally as the healing potential in their bodies was unblocked and allowed to work once more.

Bach harnessed the power of nature into his life’s work and the end result was 38 remedies, each used to rebalance different thoughts, emotions or feelings. He understood how the physical and emotional bodies were connected and created the remedies to support his patients on their healing journeys.

How do Bach Flowers work?

Bach Flower remedies work in an unusual way. We’re all used to taking a pill, whether herbal or medicinal, and seeing a physical result, whether it’s pain relief, a slowing of infection or easing of discomfort.

Bach flowers work on a totally different level which makes them so incredibly unique. Yet, it also makes them more difficult to understand in the light of what we’re used to.

As you know, everything is energy. We’re all just atoms vibrating at different densities and frequencies, living in an interconnected energy field of consciousness. Matter is energy condensed to a slow vibration. We’re all just consciousness experiencing itself subjectively.

The blood and lymph are seen under a microscope, yet the energy that enlivens these are not seen, so is not considered. What is this energy? The Chinese call it Ch’i and the Indians call it Prana. Whatever you call it, it’s crucial to understand how this energetic network affects how the body functions and malfunctions.

When you watch television, you can’t see the electromagnetic forces that create a picture on a screen, yet you know it exists. The same principles exist within our physical bodies.

We have a life force, a stream of pulsating energy, that flows through us all. It’s what causes our hearts to pump, our livers to carry out thousands of chemical processes, as well as all the other ‘automatic’ processes that occur every single day. It’s all energy.

We are more than just the physical; we are energetic beings with energy pathways running through us called Meridians, energy systems in our bodies called Chakras and energy fields that extend beyond our physical bodies called Auras. When you begin to grasp the concept of energy, you can begin to understand how Bach Flowers work within this energetic field.

Bach Flowers carry an energy and vibration

Dr. Edward Bach said "they cure, not by attacking the disease, but by flooding our bodies with the beautiful vibrations of our Higher Nature, in the presence of which, disease melts away as snow in the sunshine. There is no true healing unless there is a change in outlook, peace of mind and inner happiness."

Bach understoond that each emotion carries a specific energetic vibration that ripples into our physical bodies, as well as outwards into the wider energy field. Bach really grasped this concept, successfully harnessing the power of nature by imprinting the healing vibration of the plant into an essence that could be used to provide emotional relief for his patients. It was pioneering work for his time.

Essentially, a Bach Flower Essence is a living energetic medicine made from the biological imprint of the living plant's vibrations in water.

“Disease of the body itself is nothing but the result of the disharmony between soul and mind. Remove the disharmony, and we regain harmony between soul and mind, and the body is once more perfect in all its parts” Dr. Edward Bach famously said.

Working with Bach Flowers in Kinesiology

Bach flowers are categorized into seven groups but each remedy carries a different healing property. There are lots of ways to determine what we might need through answering questionnaires, reading through the descriptions and picking out the ones that feel right.

In Kinesiology we use muscle testing to identify what remedy each client needs. Muscle testing is a form of communication with the body that allows us to identify several things; where imbalances are located in the body, which nutritional supplements or remedies the body needs to heal, and which emotions are stuck in the body.

We store emotional stress and trauma deep in our subconscious, meaning that sometimes we’re not truly aware of how we feel.

When we’re so in the minutiae of our lives it can be extremely hard to really know how we’re feeling and sometimes the surface emotions we’re experiencing, such as stress, are really being driven by a much deeper emotion, such as fear.

So, to counter this and really find the right remedies for clients we have a special technique, based on Lusher colour therapy, that aids us in finding the right remedies for clients. It means we can get the Bach Flowers that reveal the true emotions, not how the client perceives themself of how they want to be perceived.

Essentially, Lusher colour therapy allows the client to get out of their own way, stopping the conscious brain from running the show and letting the true subconscious emotions come to the surface.

Using Bach Flowers for yourself

In Kinesiology treatments we test which Bach Flowers you need at the beginning of the session. We then leave them on your body during the treatment, keeping the vibration of the essences in your energy field.

When you take the remedies after the session the body remembers and the effects of the Bach Flowers are amplified.

Bach Flower essences are vibrational healing tools which I recommend to everyone. If you want to find out which ones you need, why not use an essence selector or explore for yourself.
